Barbarian Warlords Season III

I. FORMAT

The Barbarian Warlords Tournament Series is a 1v1 land tournament

Only factions which are a part of the barbarian tribes are available to play

SuebiLusitaniGetaeIceniArverniNervii Odrysian KingdomGalatiaTylisArevaciBoii

Players are allowed to choose between these factions, every faction can only be played once

If all the factions have been used already, the faction pool gets reset; notifying the admins beforehand though would be appreciated.

The tournament will feature a group stage with a following playoff stage. If a certain number of players is reached, this format might change.
Battles in the group stage are bo3, battles in the playoffs as well, and the grand final will be bo5

FACTION SELECTION:

For Bo3, The player listed higher in the list of players will select their faction first in game 1, and the lower-listed player will pick second.

In game 2, the lower player picks first, and the higher player second.

In game 3, players can either agree on a matchup, OR, either player can instead decide to pick a faction first (but they cannot change their faction) and let their opponent counter-pick. If both players would like to pick first, then just both take the factions you wanted to pick first and you're basically agreeing on a matchup anyway.

For a Bo5, games 1 and 3 will have the higher player picking first, and games 2 and 4 will have the lower player picking first. A potential game 5 would follow the same selection process of Bo3 deciders.

Mirror matchups are ALLOWED!

Battle replays must be saved and posted to #replays_rome-2 in the Republic Arena Discord

Pattern:

BW2023 _ round _ your nickname_vs_opponent's nickname _ game №

Example: BW2023_round1_nicname 1 vs nickname 2_game 1 (or just g1)

II. General Rules

Funds: Large (11700)
Season: Summer (there are exceptions for some maps)
Time of day: Day
Weather: Dry
Battle difficulty: Normal
Time limit: Unlimited

Large Armies: No
Battle realism mode: No

Units size: Large (120 unit size for a standard sword unit)

Players have the right to withdraw from a battle if they think the map chosen by the host is unfair (Of course this does not apply for generally fair maps, nobody can argue that Nemetocenna is an unfair map)

If you don't agree on another map, play Nemetocenna.

III. Unit Limitations

max. 4 of the same unit
max. 7 melee infantry
max. 12 Infantry in total
max. 3 missile cav
max. 8 cavalry (missile cav EXCLUDED)
No artillery

The general will be counted as a unit and is applied to the regulations
Example: 7 melee + 1 oathsworn general is not allowed, it has to be 6 swords + 1 oathsworn general

Other Rules
Glitches and bugs are not allowed under any circumstances. There is not a complete list of what is banned, but can be left up to administrators to decide. If it seems suspicious, it probably shouldn't be used.
A few things that are definitely not allowed:
  • Frenzied Charge to keep a unit from routing
  • Controlling berserkers while they are berserk
  • Using loose formation to bring units into spaghetti lines
  • Using shield screen glitch for charge bonus

Special faction limitations

Arevaci

max. 5 of the same unit
max. 8 melee infantry

Lusitani

max. 5 of the same unit
max. 8 melee infantry

Odrysian Kingdom

max. 6 of the same unit
max. 8 melee infantry
max. 13 infantry in total

IV. Fairplay

Camping

Red line camping is forbidden
Forest camping is forbidden (At least 50% of your army needs to be outside the forest)
Bypassing the red line is only allowed for attacking maneuvers

Pullthrough

Knocking down infantry with cavalry, and then moving past them, is acceptable.
Retreating with any unit AWAY FROM OPPOSING FORCE is acceptable. This means that you can retreat as long as the way your men retreat is NOT blocked by enemy units (if you are surrounded, there is no free path, so you can’t retreat).
Infantry can’t pull through infantry. Cavalry can’t pull through cavalry.
Pullthrough with any unit on skirmishers (infantry or cavalry) is acceptable.

Elephants and Chariots can pullthrough anything.

In the event of pullthrough or other rule breaches, FINISH THE GAME first and moderators can decide if the game should be replayed after. The game should not be replayed if the pullthrough or other rule breach didn't decisively affect the outcome of the game. If the game state was inconclusive when the action occured, the game will be replayed. If the player who broke the rule was clearly losing the game before the rule breach (eg. PTing cav to kill loads of archers that would otherwise easily end the game) then the affected player may be awarded the win.

Connection Issues

In general every battle that has been played, with or without lags, will be counted

If one of the players drops out in the early stage of a battle (no clear outcome), the game will be replayed

If one of the players drops out in the late stage of a battle (there is an advantage towards one side) and the players agree to it, the battle will not be replayed. If one of the players does not agree, the replay and screenshots need to be handed to the admins.

If neither of the players is able to join each others lobby, admins may be called in order to solve the problem.

V. Rules of Conduct

Overview

Racism in any form will  NOT be tolerated.

Respect each other (no bootlicking needed, just behave like you want to be treated yourself)

Respect the decisions of the admins

No insults, no trashtalk etc. etc.

There will be only one warning, there is no third chance

VI. Appeals in case of rule violations

In case of rule violations, players have one day to report this to the admins, screenshots and replays are required

The case will be reviewed by the admins. If they decline, the results counts as it is, if they accept, the battle will be either replayed or counted as a win for the injured player.

Any disputes happening outside of the battlefield should also be reported to the admins

VII. Broadcasting

Videos for the tournament can be done by anyone, it just needs to be reported to the administrators

Players may not refuse if an official streamer wants to broadcast a game.

The broadcaster is not allowed to show or talk about players`army builds, if he fails to do so he will lose the right to broadcast the game.

Replacements of for missing factions

Players with less factions:

Sandzuro:  Only has Iceni,Arverni,Getae,Suebi   Replacement: He will play between these factions, they get reset when used up

Luke:            No Lusitani, no Arevaci            Replacement: Odrysian Kingdom for Lusitani, Getae for Arevaci

Iaronie:      No Nervii, no Boii, no Galatia                   Replacement:Getae for  Nervii, Arverni for Boii, Tylis for Galatia

These are REPLACEMENTS for missing factions, which means that e.g. Luke is allowed to play Odrysian Kingdom and  Lusitani TWICE, it will only be countered as misplay if it is played THREE TIMES OR MORE before the entire faction pool is used
